Walk On Water

The year 2020, has had its challenges and the coming year 2021, is rife with uncertainty, fear, negative emotions, and self-doubts. Without denying the facts, we’d rather walk by faith and not by sight.1

Peter amidst his fears walked on water.2

But how do we receive faith? There is definitely a process of growth; one is not born a spiritual giant. Faith starts small, even as small as a mustard seed.3 And is nurtured to grow. A word picture may aid our walk:

Word. Faith is not based on whimsical or wishful thinking. It cannot be conjured up. It’s basis is truth. Faith is anchored on a sure hope.4 It’s premise is a Person, whose promise we can trust based on evidences presented in history until the present. The Bible was written that we may know the truth. Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.5

Ask. We do not receive because we do not ask.6 We need to be connected to the source. Abide in the vine.7 Be ready to obey when you hear. For God loves those who love him, and those who seek Him diligently find him.8 Taste and see that the Lord is good.9

Test. Be willing to be tested. God will test your heart10 and your faith.11

Environment. Seek the company of the wise. Leave the company of a fool.12 Just as embers need to be piled together to build fire, we need to mingle with those who are strong in the faith. Together, we can walk with them and endure the difficulties together—strengthening, encouraging, and comforting one another.

Rejoice. The joy of the Lord is our strength.13 We go from faith to faith.14 Thus, let me say it again, rejoice.15
