Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.1
Our flesh needs food; so does our soul. I will never forget your precepts, for by them you have given me life.2 They are life to those who find them, and healing for the flesh.3 Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your heart to my knowledge, for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips. That your trust may be in the LORD, I have made them known to you today, even to you.4
Seek the LORD and his strength; seek his presence continually!5 Desire without knowledge is not good, and whoever makes haste with his feet misses his way.6 Whoever gets sense loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will discover good.7
It is the Spirit who gives life, the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.8 The LORD himself watches over his word to perform it!9 It shall surely come to pass. Every word of God proves true; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.10
God’s word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.11 If we would listen attentively, he would guide us in every step of the way.
The godly has perished from the earth, and there is no one upright among mankind; they all lie in wait for blood, and each hunts the other with a net. Their hands are on what is evil, to do it well; the prince and the judge ask for a bribe, and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul; . . . The day of your watchmen, of your punishment, has come; now their confusion is at hand.
But as for me, I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; my God will hear me.12 . . . the righteous shall live by faith.13 Living by faith is so essential to a Christian’s walk that this verse is quoted three more times in the NT.14 For without faith it is impossible to please God.15
I pray that we prove faithful. Let us not throw away our confidence which has a great reward. May we endure. And in whatever we do, whether we eat or drink, may it be all for the glory of God. AMEN!
