Shout for joy to God, all the earth; sing the glory of his name; give to him glorious praise! Say to God, “How awesome are your deeds! So great is your power that your enemies come cringing to you. All the earth worships you and sings praises to you; they sing praises to your name.”1
Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up; God is our salvation.2 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us.3 Do not be afraid of sudden terror or of the ruin of the wicked, when it comes, for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.4 Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to do it.5
Is it any wonder that God recognizes David as a man after his own heart?6 Is David perfect? Far from it! Was he a sinner? Definitely! What differed is that he continued to seek God and was totally surrendered him. His desire was to be right before God and not tarnish that relationship with him. God is pleased when we prioritize him.7 And he continues to woo us into a relationship through his Son. God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.8 That anyone who believed him would be saved.9 Likewise, he commands us to love him fully—heart, soul, mind, and strength.10
For God alone my soul waits in silence; from him comes my salvation. He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.11 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, . . .12
For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is in him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken. On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.13
Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.14
May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face to shine upon us, Selah—pause and ponder on what the psalmist is saying—that your way may be known on earth, your saving power among all nations. Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! Let the nations be glad and sing for joy, for you judge the peoples with equity and guide the nations upon the earth. Let the peoples praise you, O God; let all the peoples praise you! The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!15
