Restore us again, O God of our salvation, and put away your indignation toward us! Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger to all generations? Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? Show us your steadfast love, O LORD, and grant us your salvation.1
Am totally grateful that God is steadfast and loves his people. Left to ourselves we cannot attain our righteousness to merit our salvation. Since the fall2 man’s thoughts and actions have been wicked. The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately sick; who can understand it?3 Our God knew we needed a Savior—for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith.4
God the Father has received the sacrifice of his Son—as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us.5 Jesus was crucified, died, buried, resurrected, then ascended; he is seated at the right hand of the Majesty on High.6 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.7 The Father has torn the curtain that separated us from a holy God; thus, with confidence and full assurance of faith his children can directly approach him.8
Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all day. Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. For you, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon you.9
Our Father knows what we need even before we ask.10 He has compassion for his children.11 He desires our relationship. All the nations you have made (the different people groups) shall come and worship before you, O Lord, and shall glorify your name.12 God has highly exalted [Jesus] and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow . . . and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.13
Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.14
The past took place as examples for us, that we might not desire evil15—but were written down for our instruction.16 Sanctify me in the truth; your word is truth.17 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.18
Let me hear what God the LORD will speak, for he will speak peace to his people, to his saints; but let them not turn back to folly. Surely his salvation is near to those who fear him, that glory may dwell in our land.19
