What then do I mean by a disciple? In our context, a disciple is a follower of Christ; hea fellowships with other believers; and he is a fisher of men.1
In my previous blogs, I have shared a glimpse of my thoughts on Parenting, Marriage, and Leadership. All three topics are actually sub-sets of Discipleship. Apart from a strong discipleship foundation, we shall pale in these areas of parenting, marriage, and leadership.
What characterizes a disciple? As a follower of Christ, a disciple manifests evident changes or growth prodded by the stirring of the Spirit. A disciple’s deepening relationship with Christ transforms his whole being; and he begins to reflect the image of Christ.2 His love3 for Christ creates an ardent desire for Him;4 thus, he adheres to a higher Standard.5 A disciple stands on Truth.6 Truth, not wishful thinking or hearsay, secures his standing; a disciple is sure of his Identity in Christ.7 A disciple puts-off his old self and puts-on his new nature;8 he rejoices in suffering, perseveres through trial, strengthened in character;9 a disciple proves to be Reliable (STIR).
