The heavens declare the glory of God, and the sky above proclaims his handiwork. Day to day pours out speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.1
Definitely, there is an intelligent being that created the universe. Consider the grandiosity and complexity of the cosmos—visually, we merely see the sun, the moon, the planets, the stars; but science has proven that there is more than that meets the eye. How do the elements keep their elliptical path as they revolve around the sun? How are they prevented from colliding with each other? Consider the earth—the mountains, the valleys, the canyons; and the waters; think of the variety of species for animals, insects, and plants. Whether you are an atheist or an agnostic, it is merely logical, even moot and academic to conclude that there is a Creator of heaven and earth.2 He is a God of order, and knows all things. Oh, the depth of the riches and wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable and how inscrutable his ways.3
When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?4 Because we too are his creation—fearfully and wonderfully made,5 we can trust him. “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. We can rest secure that we are precious in his sight; we need not fear—everyone who is called by my name, whom I created for my glory, whom I formed and made.”6
Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.7 By faith we understand and believe!8
How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you.9
The law of the LORD is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple; the precepts of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart; the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes; the fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever; the rules of the LORD are true, and righteous altogether.10 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.11
The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me, your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.12 O LORD, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!13
